Spray foam insulation solutions for roofs

We have a range of spray foam insulation solutions for pitched, flat, new build and refurbished roofs.

New pitched roof

WALLTITE®

WALLTITE spray foam insulation is applied directly to the underside of breathable roofing membrane between timber rafters in tiled or slated pitched roofs. The spray insulation material can be installed to any thickness to achieve preferred u-values and demonstrates an impressively high level of airtightness thereby adding to the systems superior thermal performance. WALLTITE has a measured water vapour permeability and so does not compromise the performance of any breathable roof membrane. WALLTITE is installed by trained and accredited Foam Master contractors using specialist spray foam equipment. Certain refurb scenarios may involve a non-breathable roof membrane. A rafter-slide it installed to the underside of the roofing felt to act as a separator between the foam insulation and the felt underside. This allows for a 50mm ventilated airgap as required by building regulations.

BBA Certificate No. 11/4816. WALLTITE® has undergone various performance tests. Certificates are available on request.

ENERTITE®

Enertite Pitched Roof New BuildBASF enertite spray foam can be installed between rafters to the required thickness in order to provide a particular level of insulation or U-Value.

The open cell spray foam can be cut flush with the adjacent timbers to allow for plasterboard fixing or can be sprayed proud of the roof rafter to the desired thickness.

BASF enertite insulation can be applied to breathable roofing membranes provided a counter-batten is place above the felt covering and below the tile / slate batten in accordance with Irish and UK Building Regulations.

Existing pitched roof

WALLTITE®

WALLTITE spray foam insulation can be applied directly onto the underside of existing slate or tiled roofs where a roofing membrane is absent. The foam insulation seals any air gaps, preventing the ingress of windblown snow, rain, dust and unwanted air infiltration and has a vapour permeability that permits the drying out of roof timbers following periods of solar radiation. WALLTITE insulation is applied between rafters in sloping ceiling areas and loft conversions and is ideal when space is at a premium due to its superior thermal performance. Plasterboard can then be fixed to the rafters. In applications such as barn conversions the foam spray is dubbed out with a coat of bonding plaster and then finish plaster. Existing structures must be in a good state of repair with no evidence of rain penetration or damp. Defects should be made good prior to installing the product. WALLTITE also reduces airborne noise pollution from air and road traffic.

Loft space only, non habitable: insulated between and over rafters to achieve target U-value. WALLTITE® may remain exposed in a non-habitable loft space. Repair all roof defects and thoroughly overhaul where necessary prior to spraying.

BASF enertite can be applied directly to a vapour permeable rafter slide placed between rafter timber to act a separation layer between the foam insulation and non -breathable roofing membrane. This rafter slide is positioned to maintain a clear 50mm ventilation void as required by regulation.

BASF enertite is applied to the required thickness in order to provide a particular level of insulation or U-Value. The open cell spray foam can be cut flush with the adjacent timbers to allow for plasterboard fixing or can be sprayed proud of the roof rafter to the desired thickness.

ELASTOSPRAY® LWP

Elastospray Pitched Roof InsulationIn times of rising energy costs and shortage of living area, loft conversions are becoming increasingly popular. Elastospray LWP can be applied from inside the loft space without the need for re-roofing, adding another room to the house, cost effectively.

Since the rafters of existing homes are normally only 10 to 20 cm thick, the thickness of insulation with conventional material between the rafters is often not enough to meet today’s thermal insulation requirements. Elastospray LWP extremely low thermal conductivity and high insulating performance with a low thickness, means there is no need to extend the depth of rafters which is costly in terms of both time and money. Using the proven spray foam process, Elastospray LWP is simply sprayed between the timber rafters without the need for laborious cutting and fitting. This produces a solid, air tight foam layer, with a high thermal insulation effect without energy wasting joints that occur when normal insulation materials are laid.

External roof insulation

ELASTOSPRAY LWP®

Elastospray External Roof InsulatioAs with the insulation of solid flat roofs, thermal insulation of industrial roofs is one of the traditional applications of Elastopspray LWP spray insulation. Roofs of warehouses, production facilities, exhibition and sports halls are normally made of profiled metal sheet and have relatively large spans. These lightweight roof constructions require a lightweight insulating material to be able to take the additional loads produced by snow, wind and rain.

Because of its in-situ installation properties, Elastospray LWP spray foam can be applied to the metal sheet profile seamlessly, coating both the peaks and troughs in the profile. The insulating layer then only needs to be provided with UV protection. Vapour barriers, sloping screeds or other additional materials are not normally needed, saving valuable time and money.
